We have to live in a healthy environment. However, this is more difficult every day. Our environment is polluted especially because of different economic activities. The conscience on the necessity of preserving our environment has now existed for quite some time. In a high degree it was entered into our constitution, although not in a sufficient level everywhere. The constitution of the European Union is rather progressive in this field, and positively deviates from that of the rest of the world. Unfortunately, the conscience on the necessity of sustainable development, i.e. economical development not causing ecological and social disproportions, has not prevailed everywhere. The tendency to create profit also on the account of endangering the natural environment is present in the nature of the capitalist system and has to be stopped with state measures and with citizen awareness. It still happens that entrepreneurs cannot resist temptation and try to develop their activities also in places where these would eternally damage the natural environment. A conflict of interest is in question. Money has its force and can find its ways past the law and the interests of preserving the environment.Consequently, we have to keep this danger in mind. There were too many distroyed woods, polluted rivers, polluted air, soil poisened with chemical subsances in order that we could await the future without worrying,. If several economic activities were allowed to develop without control, mankind would soon have no place to live here - not in this world at least - we do not know of the existence of other worlds. There is no harm if we possess some less consumer goods if in this way we can preserve decent environment for life with sufficient drinking water and enough pure air to be able to breathe. Let us not provoke such changes of the climate that our way of life, if not life itself, were endangered.
What can be done by our Movement? We will the same as in other fields try to raise our conscience here. We will be aware of the circumstance that our environment is the greatest wealth we possess. No car can replace the air which is polluted with exhaust gases. No golf playground can replace fields and woods. Agricultural chemical substances destroy the soil and the water as well as the food. On our website a column will be introduced in which our members and others willing to protect the environment will be able to pass their ideas, proposals and warnings. Several actions will be planned within the frame of the Movement or in cooperation with other organistions in the field of protection of environment. As we cannot isolate ourselves from the international environment, we will draw attention to wider dimensions of ecological problems and to the necessity of preserving the planet. Our planet is falling apart. We handle it recklessly and unscrupulously as if we could order another one when this one has been destroyed. Who are the people who wave their hand hearing of protection of environment, of climate changes, continuing their profitable activities? They are perpetrating the worst crimes against nature and mankind. What is the value of ecponomic development, which will destroy our planet? Has the time not come when we should energetically resist such operation? This is our planet. Is there anything more valuable to preserve? Really, the level of human conscience is low when it does not grasp and accept as well as protect such basic values. Also in this field there arises a basic task of the Movemnet, namely to promote the awareness of people. If the general level of conscience is promoted, people in their institutions, environment and homes will act in a different way. They will no longer destroy the planet.
